Profile (aims and scope)
Norsk Arkivforum is published by the Association of Archivists and is the only journal for Norwegian archival research. It was first published in 1976. The journal publishes both scientific/peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed articles. The articles are partly based on papers held at the Norwegian Association of Archivists’ annual spring seminars. The journal publishes scientific and professional articles on all aspects of the archival and records management profession: why and how records are created and managed as well as preserved and disseminated in archival institutions. The articles are theoretical, methodological or empirically oriented, based on original research at a high professional level.
The journal is approved as a scientific publication channel at level 1 in NSD – Norwegian Center for Research Data.
The journal is aimed at archivists, record managers, historians, social scientists, students and the general reader interested in archives and history. Archives and record management are taught at OsloMet, NTNU and the University of Tromsø.
The journal is published digitally with open access. In addition, a paper version of the journal is published annually. The printed version is sold for NOK 100 per item + postage, when contacting the Archives: post@arkivarforeningen.no.
Norsk Arkivforum is permanently preserved at the National Library in accordance with Norwegian legislation.
The journal does not charge any review or publication fees.
